THE FULL STORY I purchased this 1991 Z-28 of all places on EBAY on October 22, 2001 with 56,000 original miles on the odometer. This car was suppose to be for my 16 yr. old son for his 1st car. But... continue reading. I am the currently the 3rd owner. The car was originally purchased from Abraham Chevrolet in Miami, FL. sometime in early 1991. The convertible conversion according to the decal attached to the driver's side door shows a January 1991 date. The car was a south Florida car all of it's life and it's clear coat finish definitely showed the wear and tear of the south Florida sun. Upon purchasing, ALL of the interior options unbelievably worked. Even the the electric solenoids that automatically unlocked the convertible top and cover. After returning home to Virginia Beach, Virginia with the new "play toy". I decided to have the convertible's body smoothed and new coat of paint applied. On November 26th, 2001 the convertible was trailered to Karl Neuz at the "Paint Shop" in Va. Beach. He then spent nearly 2 months making the convertible's exterior as nice as my other show car, a 1987 Camaro Z-28 w/ t-tops. There was a small dent in the RR fender / bumper cover area, a small dent on RF fender, the front bumper cover / grounds effects showed various scraps, and marks, rust was begininng on the driver's side A-pillar area, along the trunk weather strip lip and also a small area of deterioration was found on the bottom of the driver's side door. After 7 weeks at the paint/body shop, the convertible returned home on January 12th, 2002. The very next day the entire interior was gutted except for the dash. New carpet, etc. was installed to make the convertible as new as possible. Feel free to check out all of the pics on the "Pictures" and "Items Replaced" pages. After approximately 3 weeks of long hours after work and weekends, re-assembling the convertible. It headed out of the garage on Monday, January 28th on an 80 degree, unseasonably warm day for it's first time on the road since its restoration began. With the convertible top down, I immediately received compliments wherever I drove it. Truthfully I believe it looks better than my 1987 Camaro Z-28 which by the way is a "World of Wheels" class runner-up and "Super Chevy Show" class winner! My intentions are for it to makes it's car show debut at the 2002 Virginia Beach Boardwalk Car show on April 27-28, this spring. Thank you for visiting my site and please feel free to visit make for updates on how the convertible fared at local shows this spring and summer.
4/29/02 UPDATE: The convertible made it's debut at the 2002 Va. Beach Cruisin the Beach Car Show. Surprisingly it was awarded a class winner in the 1990-1999 Stock / Restored class and also received a "Best" in Decade award in the 1990-1999 decade, winning over some 45-50 other class entries from stock to modified!!! So it's show car life has started off pretty well so far.
